GN Solids Control Co has been working on solids control equipments and waste management systems for many years, and many clients are keep purchase these solids control equipments from GN every year due to the excellent quality and rest assured after sales maintenance.
Recently, GN Solids Control Co has provided many sets of solids control equipments for our client in Kuwait. This client has purchased GN equipments for th

eir work over drilling rig. When we cooperate with client at the beginning, we showed our willness to have a win-win cooperation by providing solids control equipments with good quality.
And this year this gave us a large order which including 8 sets of GN shale shakers ( the type is GNZS594E-HB), 4 sets of GN vacuum degassers (the type is GNZCQ 270), 4 sets of GN desanders, 4 sets of GN desilters, 32 sets of GN centrifugal pumps as well as 48 sets of GN mud agitators and 8 sets of GN mud hopper.

For the shale shaker, we designed and manufactured a mud distributor for two sets of shale shakers, here we call it dual connection GN shale shaker. So our client has 4 groups Dual Shaker, which has a very large treating capacity, because even one set of GN shale shaker can treating the drilling fluids upto 616 GPM m³/h.
Based on the above solids control equipments, it is obvious to know this is a three phase solids control system that our client wants to use.
1. Shale Shaker
GN shale shaker can separate solids to 100 microns. For this type of GNZS594, the dimension of shaker screens is 585mm X 1165mm, so the screens are replaceable with Swaco Mongoose screens.
2. Vacuum Degasser
The mud come from shaker will be sent to vacuum degasser to eliminate the air in drilling fluids. By using GN vacuum degasser, the drilling mud can be kept in a steady viscosity.
3. Desander and Desilter
GN desander and desiler can separate solids to 20 microns. The cylones on desander and desilter are all made of PU, which is really helpful to have a long time lifespan.

As we have talked last time, many world clients are coming to GN Solids Control Co for turnkey solutions on oil and gas industries. And GN is providing more and more drilling fluids control system for customers all over the world.
Regarding to ZJ 70D (2000 HP) system, we talked that this mud recycling system has 8 tanks for solids control. Today, let’s give you the brief introduction from what we end last time.
1. #5 Tank:
# 5 tank is a weighting and premixing tank. It has 2 separated compartments: one compartment is weighting compartment, with the volume of 52 m³ and effective volume 36.4 m³. The other one is heavy mud compartment, whose volume is 34m³ and effective volume is 23.8 m³.

On the top of this mud tank, it is equipped with 3 sets of mud agitator (15kw), 2 sets of mud guns. On the left end of this tank, it is mounted with 2 sets of weighting pumps (75kw). And on the bottom, the tank is fixed with 2 sets direct injection hoppers.
2. #6 tank:
This tank only has one compartment, which is used for supplying mud for centrifugal pumps. With the effective volume of 60.2 m³, this tank is fixed with 3 sets of mud agitator (15kw) and 2 sets of mud guns.
3. # 7 tank & # 8 tank:
For # 7 tank and # 8 tank, they are both storage tanks. And these two tanks are fixed with 3 sets of mud agitator (15kw) and 2 sets of mud guns.
4. Trip tank:
There are 1 set of mud agitator (15kw), 1 set of mud guns and 2 sets of feeding pumps mounted on this trip tank. The volume of this tank is 20 m³, while the effective volume is 14 m³.

At the end of this year, GN Solids Control is very busy with a large quantity of projects for various clients. This year, all GN engineers and workers are experiencing a very special year.

For Chinese domestic manufactures on solids control, they have checked with very strict demands among, and finally they choose us to be their partners. Right now, we are the only partner for them in China. And we are both devoted to expand our further business in the near future and establish win-win cooperation for a long time.

PVOC Certificate for GN Mud System to Kenya

Recently, GN Solids Control(www.gnsolidscontrol.com) has manufactured a set of mud system for geothermal drilling, which will be delivered to Kenya. GN is specialized in designing and building up solids control system for oil and gas drilling, mud system for geothermal drilling, mud cleaning system for HDD drilling and tunneling. With its high quality and strict quality management standards and systems, GN has been the first API certified solids control company in China. This week, from Monday to Thursday, the customer visited GN factory for inspection. The testing was successfully finished, showing that the mud system performs well, though there were modification requirements posed by the customer. But before delivery, this system should be PVOC certified.

The full name of PVOC is Pre-Export Verification of Commodity. It is inspecting standards required by KEBS for exporting commodity to Kenya. If the commodity listed in PVOC content is inspected to be in compliance with PVOC, COC (certificate of commodity) will be issued for custom clearance; otherwise, the commodity will not be allowed into Kenya. GN mud system for geothermal drilling belongs to the catalog listed in PVOC, so COC is required for export; otherwise, GN mud system will not be allowed delivered to Kenya.

While the customer’s visit, we are also preparing documents required for PVOC. It is the first time we do this, so it is a little confusing and tough for us. But, with the help of an agent for PVOC, we finally summit the documents in this week, and it has been approved. The next step will be inspection of the commodity, it will happens last week. And is we get through the inspection, we will get the COC. Then GN mud system will be delivered to Kenya, and go into Kenya.

Working Environment of GN Equipments

GN Solids Control has experienced many years’ successful growing in the past days. And these years, GN Solids Control is like a rocket and growing larger and larger in a fast speed. GN has established another branch manufacturing company close to Beijing, which means GN has two main manufacturing and designing centers in China. Besides, GN has one American branch company in Houston, TX and one Russian branch company in Moscow.

For every solids control equipments, it need to be careful used too. One of the first important factors is the working environment. In order to perform well and for further easy maintenance, solids control equipments should comply with these following principles (take one set of ZJ30 drilling rig mud recycling system for example):
1. Three solids control phases for purification process:
1.1 GN Shale Shaker: screening
1.2 GN Desander: Separate solids diameter which is over 47μm.
1.3 GN Desilter: Separate solids diameter which is beyond 20μm。
2. GN Designed treating capacity:≤250 m3/h,Rated treating capacity:240 m3/h.
3. Temperature Condition:-20°~40°.
4. Mud Viscosity:≤80 S.
5. Climate: rain, snow or fog.
6. Work continuously in rated power.
7. Range of Working Height: Work regularly in areas less than 2500 meters above the sea level; may decrease the efficiency in those over 2500 meters above the sea level.
8. These equipments should follow the standards (SY/T5612-2007) Specification Drilling Fluids.

How to design a GN mud tank roughly in a fast way? (A)

GN Mud tanks are widely used in solids control area, although the functions might seems quite resemble which are to storage the muds or wastes for different separation steps, all of these tanks play a vital important role in solids control.
Today we would like to share some info on how to design a GN mud tank roughly in a fast way.
To design a GN mud tank, we need to know the way that our customer going to transport in their region or the ship method to their country. Usually there are different land transportation limits in various countries, so these limitations are the first numbers we need to discuss with our customers. But all of these limitations are must be within a container.
So the second thing need to consider is the sea transport way. Will the solids equipment be put into container? Will the equipment be designed to the same size as the container? Or will the equipment be shipped in bulk? Depend on different shipping methods, the tank can be designed into different limited sizes.

If the tank is put into a container, the largest width is 2250 mm (including sand cleaning doors and lifting lugs); If the tank is designed as a standard container, than the largest width is 2588 mm; Or if the tank is a large capacity tank, the largest width is 2950 mm.
For all these tanks, we usually designed them with integer number, from 4m to 12m. It’s better the length is not beyond 13.5 m. If the tank (length is 6m) is made into 20 feet container, the length should be 6058mm; while for tank (length is 12m) is made into a 40 feet container, the length is 12192mm. Skid-mounted tanks should plus 250mm in both ends of the tank (which is 500mm in total), the final length is with 0.5m.

GN Mud Gas Separator

As we all known, GN Solids Control Company are specialize in providing turnkey solutions for customers on solids control and waste management systems. It’s important to provide customers with best quality equipments such as shale shakers, mud cleaners, decanter centrifuges and cuttings dryer etc. Some other auxiliary equipments are also quite important when it comes to show a perfect function for the whole system.
Today we would like to give you a brief introduction on GN mud degasser. Mud degasser is also called poor boy degasser sometimes.

GN mud degasser is a useful equipment to eliminate the gas from drilling fluids before the fluids is sent to solids control systems. Although the mud degasser is not always used in the drilling process, it’s quite important when there is much gas in the drilling fluids. Because too much gas can destroy the solids control equipment. For the gas separated from the drilling fluids, some of it might be SO2 which is very harmful for people’s health. So usually there is one flare igniter connected with the mud degasser, the harmful gases can be burnt in a quite far place.

The mechanical structure of GN mud degasser is very simple. Just take GNZYQ 1000A as an example, the tank diameter is 1000mm. Drilling fluids first run along with the inlet pipe which is 4 inch, then it will hit several baffle plates. Due to the large pressure, the collision force is big enough to separate the gas from drilling muds and run out from the outlet pipe which is 10 inch to a flare igniter or to some other faraway place.
For the after treated drilling fluids, it is sent to solids control system for further separation. Sometimes, there will be a vacuum degasser right in the back of shale shaker. GN Solids Control has working on solids control and waste management fields for years. Every year, GN Solids Control produces about one hundred and fifty decanter centrifuges and four hundreds shale shakers as well as the other solids control equipments. Most of these equipments are sent to abroad due to the large market. 

Recently, GN has manufactured two decanter centrifuges for clients in Nigeria. These two decanter centrifuges are composed one whole system for drilling fluids separation.

As we all known, when two decanter centrifuges are using together, the first one is usually treating larger capacity drilling fluids, and the second one is used for separating finer solids. Although the decanter centrifuge is mainly used to separate solids with diameter larger than five microns, two decanter centrifuges have different separation function when working together. 

Regarding to this system, GN proposed to use two sets of GNLW 363. The bowl diameter of this decanter centrifuge is 14 inch and the length of this decanter centrifuge is 50 inch. Treating capacity can reach to 200 GPM. But for rotating speed of this decanter centrifuges, they are not the same. To save money for customers, the first centrifuge can be fixed speed at 3200 r/m. And the second one can be rotating from 0 to 3200 r/m. 

When the drilling fluids with mud changes, we can adjust the rotating speed of the second centrifuges to satisfy the treating demands. However, it would be better to choose two sets of adjustable speed decanter centrifuges. When controlled by PLC, all the operation work will become much easier for workers.

Here these two decanter centrifuges are both fed by screw pump. GN use famous brand screw pumps which is a very effective feeding pumps, when this pumps is working, it can avoid agitating the drilling fluids. For any details, welcome to email to thomas@gnsolidcontrol.com

Now GN Solids Control has different types of decanter centrifuges, the treating capacity are ranging from 40 GPM to 484 GPM. As we all know, decanter centrifuge are designed and manufactured for separate the drilling solids which diameter is mainly below 10 microns. But for the common people, we might do not know why the treating capacity can be varies a lot.
There are some parameters, such as the diameter of the bowl, the length of the bowl, the position of the liquid outlet, the position of the discharge port and the rotating speed of the bowl as well as the rotating speed of the inner propeller. Among these parameters, the bowl’s diameter and the bowl’s length are two main factors we usually talked a lot.
It is not difficult to understand when a bowl with a larger diameter and a larger length, it has much more working room space to treat the drilling fluids which means it must have a larger capacity.

Sometimes, we will access one bowl by the ration of length and diameter, which we named f (f=Length/ Diameter) here. Since we usually design the bowl diameter from 9 inch to 22 inch, and the length from 26 inch to 71 inch, so it’s quite common the f is ranging from 3 to 8.
Some designers believe the decanter centrifuge should working at a high speed and the f must be very large. Considering the fierce vibration of the whole decanter centrifuge, the speed cannot be over 4500 r/m. At the speed of 4500 r/m the inner parts (such as inlet pipe) will broken in a short period. According to the former experiences, rotating speed at 3800 r/m (with bowl diameter in 22 inch and bowl length in 71 inch) can satisfy the most separation demands.
