GN Solids Control built one set of mud plant for North America including 4 sets of mud tank , 1 set of shale shaker , 2 sets of high speed decanter centrifuge , 2 sets of submersible slurry pump for feeding decanter centrifuge and tank attachement . The mud plant normally close to drilling area where may allow many drill rig working but treat drilling mud together or after finish drilling . It will be contain high volume of drilling mud and need equipment to separate drilling cuttings and fine solids out of drilling mud .

Main Equipment Will Be Used For Drilling Mud Plant

Shale shaker will be required to separate drilling cuttings , depending on mud plant size and capacity , client will choose different model and quatity of shale shaker . This client choose one set 2 screen shale shaker for about 200 GPM mud flow capacity .

Decanter centrifuge will be required to separate fine solids after treatment by shale shaker , the shale shaker will treat about 150 microns by 100 mesh screen , then one set high speed centrifuge will separate solids 5 microns and above or 7 microns and above by middle speed decanter centrifuge . There are different models from GN Solids with different treating capacity and treating effictivity .

Mud tanks will be require to storage dirty and clean drilling mud before and after treatment , normally they will require many tanks to storage clean mud after treatment as they need some spares in case no space for dirty mud treatment . The mud tank size can be customized depending on jobsite condition and requirement or clients requirement . Many clients choose 40 feet container size mud tank consider of transport locally but some client like more capacity of mud tank to save space .

The shale shaker is the first phase cleaning for drilling mud , 3 decks and 4 decks shale shaker is the first phase cleaning at 100 to 400 micron and above by 40 mesh shaker screen or higher mesh size . Decanter centrifuge is the forth phase cleaning equipment for separate solids 2 to 7 microns depending on model choose , the high speed decanter centrifuge separate solids 2 to 5 microns and middle speed centrifuge separate solids 5 – 7 microns . Drilling waste management system contains several equipment and tank to make a full solution including vertical cuttings dryer for dry drilling cuttings , decanter centrifuge to recycle drilling fluids out of vertical cuttings dryer , screw pump for feed decanter centrifuge and flush outlet of vertical cuttings dryer , air compressor to supply air for air knife on vertical cuttings dryer , screw conveyor to transfer drilling cuttings , mud tank and work plat form to make all process continuously .

Vertical cuttings dryer is one of the core equipment and will dry drilling cuttings with fluids content bellow 5 percent at 900 RPM rotating speed tank body . The screen can be use 0.25 to 0.5 mm size depending on requirement , one set of air knife will be needed to match vertical cuttings dryer which is powered by one set of air compressor . One set of screw pump will be needed to flush outlet fluids to keep sure fluids will be flow out when high viscosity and density . There will need minimum 2 sets of screw auger to feed drilling cuttings into vertical cuttings dryer , one set horizontal to collect drilling cuttings from shale shaker , desander and desilter , another one to feed drilling cuttings to vertical cuttings dryer .

One set high speed decanter centrifuge to recycle drilling fluids that recycled by vertical cuttings dryer at 2 to 5 microns separate at 3200 RPM bowl speed . one set of VFD control panels is optional , the VFD control panel will change speed of centrifuge bowl from 0 to 3200 RPM but quite big size . Other than the vertical cuttings dryer and decanter centrifuge , there will be other equipment to cooperate like screw pump , tank , work form , etc .

Containerized drilling waste management system normally will be used in Russia for lower temperature and winterized conditions . GN Solids Control delivery the third sets of containerized drilling waste management to the same client last week and get a good feed back of drilling waste management equipment performance in Russia . 40 feet container supplied to keep vertical cuttings dryer and other drilling waste management equipment inside for winterization design . We made some changes on the container like doors or windle depending on working requirement . The whole container size on a big work platform to hold all above and make a base for the cover and temperature issues .

One set vertical cuttings dryer with 930mm size diameter tank and 900 RPM rotating speed to allow drilling cuttings treating flow reaches to 30 to 50 cubic meters per hour . the dry solids treated by vertical cuttings dryer will reduce fluids and fluids content will be bellow 5 percent totally . One set screw pump will be installed to flush vertical cuttings dryer incase fluids content a lot of fine solids and make it hard to flow . The air knife will make client need a air compressior and this design is for avoid screen block by water base drilling cuttings .

One set of decanter centrifuge will be installed to recycling drilling mud that recycled by vertical cuttings dryer . It is high speed centrifuge with 3200 RPM rotating speed for separation 2 to 5 microns solids out and 30 cubic meters per hour drilling mud flow max . The tungsten carbide tiles is bolted on screw impeller to help screw working longer life .

Linear motion shale shaker is the most popular design of shale shaker for oil and gas industry and steady working performance . Linear motion shale shaker is made by 2 sets of vibrator motor that rotating by opposite direction to make shale shaker linear motion vibrating .

GN Solids has different size of linear motion with 2 decks , 3 decks , 4 decks for different treating capacity and different application . Mud tank will be using to storage dirty or clean mud , the mud tank size can be customize by 6 mm thick tank wall and 8 mm thick tank bottom with 200 – 300 m H beam as tank skid . The tank size normally will be design as per request .

Vertical cuttings dryer is one of the main equipment for drying drilling cuttings by centrifugal force by screen 0.25 to 0.5 mm size . The drying effenciency between 3 percent to 5 percent fluids content inside which will be good for the result . The treating capacity max 50 tons per hour depending on treating requirement . The bowl diameter size 930 mm and feeding by screw auger .

Decanter centrifuge will be lay after vertical cuttings dryer for recycle fluids content at speed 30 cubic meters per hour by GNLW363 model centrifuge , it can separate solids 2 – 5 microns by centrifugal force . The bowl diameter 360 mm with bowl length 1271 mm by SS2205 stainless material . The screw bolted tungsten carbid tiles on for helping protect screw impeller for longer working life .

Hi G dryer is on economy option for water base mud drilling cuttings process as it is only one third of the price of vertical cuttings dryer . The treating efficiency will be much lower than vertical cuttings dryer but still can be on good option depending on drilling conditions and budget information . GNCM -40A is one of GN models of the drilling waste management package , it is contains of vertical cuttings dryer , decanter centrifuge , centrifuge feeding pump , mud agitator and work plat form . This is one of the popular model for drilling waste management in oil and gas industry to work as a package . This design can be working in a drilling waste management working plant or work beside solids control system on drilling site depending on client request .

The work plat form is the base of a whole package to hold all equipment and attachment together for fast moving . The work plat form contains 3 main different part , the first part is a vertical cuttings dryer plat form with a high skid to sit dryer , handrail and walkway for working on top . The second part of plat form is a small holding tank to hold mud after vertical cuttings dryer with a mud agitator on top and a slurry pump for feeding decanter centrifuge . The third part is the centrifuge work plat form with a high skid to allow centrifuge discharge into a tank by weight instead of by pump .
