The Liquid Mud Plant is installed for one main purpose and that is to maintain good properties of the drilling mud in the wellbore as much as possible. Within each drilling fluid supply base, you can usually find which “Mud” companies are working offshore from this base, as they are represented in the form of a Liquid Mud Plant. This liquid mud plant is used to handle (mix, dilute, treat, adjust) various drilling fluids to be used in the wells supported by this supply base. You can also find expanded drilling waste management (DWM) or solids control processing for drilling mud here, usually in the form of decanter centrifuges used to treat used mud that has been recharged at the supply base. . Offshore supply vessels are used to transport any drilling or completion fluids to and from the Slurry Plant that cannot be mixed or treated on-site.

Typically, a decanter centrifuge manufactured by GN Solids Control will be used for drilling mud solids control. Sometimes customers will need a vibratory screen for coarse solids removal. Mud agitators are mounted on mud storage or mixing tanks to agitate mud and prevent the settling of solids in fluids. Sometimes GN mud guns will be needed for agitation, especially for the corners of the mud tank. Mud mixing and chemical addition are done by mud mixing hoppers and centrifugal pumps. SLUDGE DEHYDRATOR WITH SCREW PRESS GN

 

GN screw press sludge dewatering machine is a kind of economical and environmentally friendly sludge dewatering equipment. It is a new type of sludge extrusion dewatering equipment using the principle of screw extrusion, through the strong compression force generated by the change of diameter and pitch of the screw, and the small gap between the floating ring and the fixed ring, to perform solids -liquid separation. Features of screw press dehydrator machine:

  • The main body of the screw press sludge dewatering machine is a filtration device composed of a fixed ring and a movable ring, in which the screw axis runs. The front section is for concentration and the rear section for dehydration.
  • The filtrate gap formed between the fixed ring and the moving ring of the dewatering screw press and the pitch of the screw shaft gradually decreased from the concentrating section to the dewatering section.
  • The rotation of the screw press shaft not only pushes the sludge from the concentration section to the dewatering section but also continuously drives the moving ring to clean the filter space and prevent clogging.
  • After gravity concentration in the concentration section, the sludge is transported to the dewatering section. Why Need a Mud Dewatering Unit?

As it is known during a normal drilling mud solids control processing, the primary equipment like shale shaker, desander, Desilter, even the decanter centrifuge can only remove the solids larger than 5 microns. For the solids less than 5 microns, it is difficult to separate out by using the regular mechanical method. After several times for using and recycling the drilling mud, the ultra-fine solids will build up to a large content in the drilling mud, which will disrupt the mud property. In order to maintain the mud property at a proper level, the operator needs to add water into the mud for dilution which will cost a large quantity of water. Here is the point, the mud dewatering unit is used to remove the ultra-fine solids from the drilling mud to prevent the built-up. Thus, great would be saved.

GN’s mud dewatering unit is designed to be fabricated inside a container. According to the equipment quantity involved in the system, the 20 ft or 40 ft container would be optionally chosen. The drilling cuttings discharged from the primary shale shaker and desander desilters will be picked up by a screw conveyor, and another screw conveyor will take the drilling cuttings to feed to the High G drying shaker. Sometimes, the client will install a low-profile drying shaker just under the solids control tank to feed to the drying shaker directly. The drilling cuttings will be dried by the high G shaker, and fluids will be caught by the tank under the shaker, a centrifuge feed pump will take the fluids and feed them to a high-speed decanter centrifuge, after treatment by the high-speed decanter centrifuge, the fluids can return back the active mud system for reuse.

ENVIRONMENTAL & WASTEWATER INDUSTRY COMMON APPLICATION

Municipal wastewater includes industrial wastewater and domestic wastewater. The typical urban wastewater treatment process mainly includes mechanical treatment, biochemical treatment, and sludge treatment.

Recovery of various waste oils, including waste residues and oil-water mixtures at the bottom of oil storage tanks, oil residues and waste oils in oil refineries, grease dirt in sewage tanks, waste oil-water mixtures in ships, API oil-water separation oil sludge treatment, lubricant, and grease produced in industrial lubrication production systems.

Oil sludge mainly includes waste oil sludge from the cleaning of crude oil tanks, waste oil sludge from oil refineries, and oily waste from oil and gas drilling. GN oil sludge hot washing technology can reduce the oil content of sludge, recover useful oil, and recycle hot wash water.

The deposit silt in the river or lake is firstly cleared by the dredging boat, and then dewatered and separated by GN multi-stage separation and conveying equipment. The recovered solid can be used for construction or farmland fertilizer, and the recovered water can flow back to the river or lake.

Sand washing is very important for sand and stone extraction, but sand washing also produces a large amount of polluted wastewater. In many places, separation tools such as decanter centrifuges are used to clean sand and gravel washing water.

ASTM Mesh and API Cut Point:

  • ASTM is short for The American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM E11:01 mesh equals to ISO 3310- 1:2000 mesh. This method determines the cut point of single-layer ASTM screen mesh size. For shaker screen mesh, normally means the surface screen mesh size. Whilst the shaker screen is usually a composition of 2 or 3 layers, the cut point of the first layer’s mesh is not equal to the final shaker screen cut point.
  • API is short for American Petroleum Institute, “API Number” is determined by API RP13C or ISO13501, the cut point is related to the combined 3-layer wire mesh test result. So before ordering, GN will need an API number, or the cut point, to define a more proper shaker screen configuration.
