CBM Drilling 5 Stage Solids Control System for India Drilling Company

GN Solids Control is pleased to announce the successful manufacturing and assembly of a complete 5-stage solids control system for a drilling company in India. This customized system is specifically designed for Coal Bed Methane (CBM) drilling operations, where efficient gas handling and rigorous solids removal are critical to success.

The system has been fully assembled at GN’s manufacturing facility, as shown in the accompanying photos. The layout highlights a robust, integrated design with safety features such as yellow walkways and railings, and a centralized stainless steel control cabinet.

Comprehensive 5-Stage System Configuration

To meet the demanding requirements of CBM drilling, this system integrates a comprehensive suite of equipment, including:

Mud Gas Separator: Positioned as the initial stage to handle gas kicks and separate free gas from the drilling fluid before further processing. This is essential for CBM operations where methane gas intrusion is common.

Shale Shakers: The primary stage for removing large drill cuttings from the returning mud.

Vacuum Degasser: The secondary stage, designed to remove entrained and dissolved gases from the drilling fluid, restoring mud density and ensuring safe circulation.

Desander: The third stage, utilizing hydrocyclones to remove medium-sized solids and protect downstream equipment.

Decanter Centrifuge: The fourth and fifth stages, providing fine and ultra-fine solids separation to maintain optimal mud properties and recover valuable drilling fluids.

Auxiliary Components

Complementing the main separation stages, the system also includes:

Mud Tanks: The structural backbone of the system, providing storage and settling capacity.

Mixing Hopper: Integrated for efficient chemical and additive mixing to maintain proper mud rheology.

Engineered for Efficiency and Safety

The system features a compact, modular layout that optimizes the use of vertical space on the mud tank. The integration of the liquid-gas separator and vacuum degasser reflects a strong emphasis on operational safety, specifically tailored to the unique challenges of CBM drilling.

This delivery reinforces GN Solids Control’s capability to provide complete, customized solids control solutions for the global CBM and oil & gas drilling industries.
