GN Containerized Oil Sludge Treatment Plant for Africa Client

GN Solids Control is pleased to announce the successful shipment of a containerized oil sludge treatment plant to a valued client in Africa. This compact, integrated solution is designed to efficiently process oil sludge from sources such as crude oil tank cleaning, refinery waste, and drilling operations, helping the client recover valuable oil, recycle water, and reduce solid waste for environmentally responsible disposal.

The delivered system is based on GN’s proven GNOST series technology and is configured as a modular, containerized package for easy transport, rapid deployment, and reliable operation in remote field locations.

System Components

The containerized plant integrates four core modules, each engineered to perform a specific function in the oil sludge treatment process:

1. Pre-Mixing & Heating Module
This module prepares the raw oil sludge for downstream separation. It heats the sludge to approximately 60–70°C and mixes it with dilution water and chemicals to reduce viscosity and improve flowability. The pre-mixing process ensures that solid content is reduced to below 20% and particle size is controlled, creating a homogeneous slurry suitable for subsequent treatment stages.

2. Shale Shaker Module (Screening Module)
The slurry from the pre-mixing tank is fed to a linear motion shale shaker equipped with appropriate mesh screens. This module removes coarse solids larger than the screen opening (typically down to 100–200 microns), protecting downstream centrifuges from abrasive wear. The screened material then proceeds to the next stage, while the separated coarse solids can be collected for further processing or disposal.

3. Three-Phase Decanter Centrifuge Module
This is the core separation unit of the plant. The three-phase decanter centrifuge simultaneously separates the incoming slurry into three distinct streams: oil, water, and solids. Operating at high G-force (up to 3000+ G for the three-phase decanter models), the centrifuge continuously discharges dry solids with an oil content of approximately 1–3%. The recovered oil typically contains 3–5% BS&W (basic sediment and water), making it suitable for sale to refineries or for fuel blending. The recovered water contains approximately 1% oil and can be reused in the pre‑mixing stage, significantly reducing fresh water consumption.

4. Chemical Dosing Module
To optimize separation efficiency, the system includes a chemical dosing unit. This module precisely injects demulsifiers, flocculants, and other treatment chemicals into the process stream. The standard dosing system is designed for liquid-type chemicals and can be customized based on client requirements. Effective chemical treatment enhances oil-water separation and improves overall recovery rates.

Performance Overview

Based on GN’s documented project references, the system can achieve:

Oil on solids (discharged from centrifuge): 1–3%

Recovered oil quality (BS&W): 3–5% (depending on feed characteristics and chemical treatment)

Recovered water oil content: Approximately 1% (suitable for reuse in pre‑mixing)

These results are for reference and may vary depending on the specific oil sludge composition and chemical formulation used by the client.

Two Package Drilling Rig Solids Control Equipment for Middle East Client

GN Solids Control is pleased to announce the successful shipment of two complete drilling rig solids control equipment packages to a client in the Middle East. This delivery reinforces our commitment to providing high-performance, reliable solutions for oil and gas drilling operations across this strategically important region.

The equipment package is specifically configured to meet the demanding requirements of the client’s drilling program. It includes the following core components:

1. Six Units of Drilling Fluid Shale Shakers

The shale shaker is the first phase solids control equipment in any drilling fluid processing system. It is widely recognized as a key piece of equipment within the drilling mud system because its performance directly affects the efficiency of the entire solids control system. The supplied units are engineered to provide effective primary separation of large drill cuttings, ensuring that downstream equipment operates under optimal conditions.

2. Two Units of Mud Cleaners (GNZJ Series)

The GNZJ mud cleaner is a standard model within our product line. It combines desander and desilter hydrocyclones mounted over a fine-mesh shale shaker, delivering efficient secondary and tertiary solids removal. Our mud cleaner is designed to meet almost all requirements for oil and gas well drilling fluids treatment systems as well as HDD mud recycling systems. For customers with special needs, we can design customized, cost-effective mud cleaners based on specific application requirements.

3. Four Units of Decanter Centrifuges

GN designs and manufactures both decanter centrifuges and three-phase centrifuges for industrial separation applications. The solid bowl decanter centrifuge has operated according to the same basic principle since the 19th century, but GN has advanced the technology by designing specific centrifuges tailored to particular separation tasks. The use of resilient, high-quality materials has significantly improved centrifuge performance and service life.

This shipment to the Middle East further demonstrates GN Solids Control’s ability to deliver comprehensive solids control packages that meet the rigorous demands of international drilling projects. We remain dedicated to providing innovative, field-proven equipment that helps our clients achieve operational efficiency and cost savings.

GN Solids Control Equipment and Vacuum Pumps for MENA Client

GN Solids Control is pleased to announce the successful shipment of a comprehensive package of solids control equipment and solids vacuum pumps to a client in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.

The system integrates three core components, each engineered to perform a critical function in the overall fluid management and waste reduction process:

Vertical Cuttings Dryer: Designed to efficiently separate liquids from drilling cuttings, significantly reducing the volume of drilling waste for disposal. The vertical cuttings dryer is capable of reducing oil-on-cuttings (OOC) to below 5%, minimizing environmental impact and lowering waste disposal costs. Using centrifugal force, the dryer extracts valuable drilling fluids that can be returned to the active system for reuse, maximizing fluid recovery and reducing overall drilling expenses.

Solids Vacuum Pump: A pneumatic transfer pump specifically engineered to move high solids content materials such as drilling waste, oil sludge, and tank bottom sludge. Powered by compressed air rather than electricity, it is ideal for hazardous and explosion-proof zones, ensuring safe operation in challenging field conditions.

20260429 Solids Vacuum Pump 2

Decanter Centrifuge: Providing precision solid-liquid separation, the decanter centrifuge removes fine and ultra-fine solids from drilling fluids, controlling low-shear rate viscosity and recovering valuable barite.

This shipment to the MENA client further reinforces GN Solids Control’s position as a global leader in solids control and drilling waste management solutions. We remain dedicated to providing innovative, reliable equipment that enables our clients to operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably in the world’s most demanding drilling environments.
