Introducing the Specs of a GN Poor Boy Degasser (Mud Gas Separator)

GN ZYQ series drilling mud-gas separator is a special equipment for the primary degassing of drilling fluid, mainly used for the first step in drilling mud treatment. The large bubbles, which with a diameter ≥ φ3mm from drilling fluid that mostly fills a section of the wellbore annulus, could be removed and ignited.

If the expansive gas is not removed, it will easily cause a well kick, and even eject the surface of the drill disc. And sometimes do harm to solids control equipment like centrifugal pumps or agitators or centrifuges.

GN ZYQ series anti-hydrogen sulfide drilling fluid mud-gas separator is made of high-quality materials, which can effectively remove most part of harmful gases to ensure the safe production of personals and equipment.

The MGS has the following characteristics:
1. The separator uses a bottom drainage system to control the height of the liquid inside. This ensures that the liquid level stays constant, which helps to prevent solids from accumulating in the tank.
2. There is a special pipe for gas separation in the MGS, and the gas is emptied smoothly, which improves the gas treatment effect;
3. The mud was pumped into the MGS and drops on a series of inner plates,  an effective way of separation to ensure the gas separation effect;

Then, here is the main technical parameters the GNZYQ 1000A and GNZYQ1200A :

GN Vacuum Pump are Welcomed in Qatar Tank Cleaning Projects

Vacuum pumps are effective equipment for pumping mud, sand, or solids.  GN Solids Control has made and supplied Vacuum pumps for many years, and they are welcomed in Qatar oil tank cleaning projects.

Sludge vacuum pumps work by creating a vacuum in the pump chamber. This vacuum draws the sludge into the chamber, where it is then pumped to the desired location.

Sludge vacuum pumps can be either positive displacement pumps or centrifugal pumps. Positive displacement pumps work by moving a fixed volume of sludge through the pump chamber. This type of pump is typically used for sludge with a high solids content. Usually, sludge vacuum pumps are typically used in waste fluids treatment plants, mining operations, and other industries where sludge needs to be transferred.  Contracting with a centrifugal pump, the centrifugal pumps work by rotating an impeller, which creates a centrifugal force that draws the sludge into the pump chamber. However, centrifugal pumps can’t transfer high-velocity mud or solids, or the material will destroy the impellers. Centrifugal pump is typically used for sludge with a lower solids content or water. The main vacuum pumps welcomed in Qatar are the 20B and 40B pumps, which means the 20B can pump 20m3/h and 40B can 40m3/h.

However, sludge vacuum pumps can be noisy and they can have a relatively high power consumption because it must be connected to a pneumatic device to provide an air supply. But it doesn’t need a motor and there is no rotary spares inner the pumps. It is easy for maintenance.

If you want to learn more about the vacuum pumps, please contact me at samuel@gnsolidscontrol.co for more details especially for the mud-treating projects.

GN has Sold a Diamond Drilling Solids Removal Unit to a South Africa Client

The GN Compact Solids Removal Unit (SRU) is a drilling fluid solids control system for small mining rigs. Instead of traditional drilling sumps, the GN SRU is a closed-loop system that reduces environmental impact and improves drilling efficiency.

Last week GN has sold a Diamond Drilling Solids Removal Unit to a South Africa Client, which is including a tank, centrifugal pump, mud hopper, shaker and centrifuge.

Tank: The tank is used to store the drilling fluid. It is made of a durable material that can withstand the harsh conditions of diamond drilling.

Centrifugal pump(GNSB 3x2C-9J): The centrifugal pump is used to circulate the drilling fluid through the unit. It is a model with the smallest capacity of all centrifugal pumps that can move enough volumes of fluid quickly.

Mud hopper: The mud hopper is used to add materials for the drilling fluid and make new mud. It is a large container that can hold a significant amount of solids.

Shaker (GNZS752): This shaker is used to remove large particles from the drilling fluid. It is a mechanical equiment that uses vibrating motors to separate the solids from the fluid.

Centrifuge(GNLW224): This is a smaller centrifuge is used to remove fine particles from the drilling fluid. It is a high-speed device that uses centrifugal force to separate the solids from the fluid.

Introducing GN Mud Cleaner GNZJ594J-2S12N

GN mud cleaners are usually the second or third-class solid control equipment used to treat drilling fluids. They have complied with a bottom shale shaker, desanders, and desilters.

Let’s take an example of the GNZJ594J-2S12N. It is a compact, three-in-one unit that combines the functions of a desander, desilter, and shale shaker. Made with durable materials, which including polyurethane hydrocyclones, stainless steel bottom deck, and heat-treated shaker deck for longer lifespan. The mud cleaner also features a patented shaker deck angle adjustment system, rubber sealing, and pre-tensioned shaker screens. It is certified to IEC Ex, ATEX, and CNEX standards.

Depending on the size of the cone diameter, desanders are used as second-stage control equipment. They are used to separate solid-phase particles with a size of 47-76 μm from drilling fluids. We commonly use 10-inch cone desanders for this purpose. For desilters, the cone sizes are usually 4 inches which could separate solid-phase with 15-47μm in the drilling fluid.

And for the single deck bottom shale shaker, GNZJ594J, which is popular in oil gas drilling, big trench-less HDD projects, or other industry separation demand.

We can also provide a variety of spare parts for GNZJ594J-2S12N mud cleaner, including cyclones, shaker screens, vibrating motors and other worn parts. (Attention! We don’t supply parts for other brands except for API replacement screens.) We are confident that we can provide our clients with the GN mud cleaner spare parts they need to keep their drilling fluids clean and free of solids. We would be happy to discuss their specific needs in more detail. Please do not hesitate to email me at samuel@gnsolidscontrol.co if you have any questions. I hope this is helpful!

GN 3 Phase Decanter Centrifuge

A 3 phase decanter centrifuge is a type of solids control equipment that is used to separate two liquid phases from one solid phase. It works by using centrifugal force to separate the different densities of the liquids and solids. The solids are then discharged from the centrifuge, while the liquids are recycled back into the process.

3 phase decanters are commonly used in the oil and gas industry to separate oil from water and sand. They are also used in other industries, such as the mining and food processing industries.

The solids control system in a 3-phase decanter centrifuge is designed to operate in a continuous manner. The mixture of liquids and solids is fed into the centrifuge at a constant rate by a pump, and the solids are discharged at a constant rate. The control system ensures that the centrifuge operates at the correct speed and that the flow of liquids and solids is balanced.

The efficiency of a 3-phase decanter centrifuge is affected by a number of factors, including the density of the liquids, the size of the solids, and the speed of the centrifuge.

The speed of the centrifuge also affects the efficiency of the decanter. The faster the centrifuge rotates, the more centrifugal force is applied to the liquids and solids, and the more efficient the separation process is. However, if the centrifuge rotates too quickly, it can damage the screw propeller and the rotating bowl. In general, a high-speed centrifuge is designed with a speed of 3000-3500 RPM, which is effective to seperate fluid, oil and solids at the same time.

The discharged mud will be transferred by the auger, the oil will be collected and reused, and the fluid will flow back to the tank, which is mounted with agitators and mud guns Usually, A hopper is also connected to the tank, which is used for making new mud that flows back to the drilling bits and reusing.
