GN Solids Control Delivers 18 Inch Decanter Centrifuges for Offshore Drilling Platform

GN Solids Control, a leading manufacturer of solids control equipment, has delivered 18-inch decanter centrifuges to an offshore drilling platform. The centrifuges will be used to separate solids from drilling mud, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the drilling fluid and preventing formation damage.

The centrifuges are designed to operate at high speeds, up to 3500 rpm, which allows them to remove even the smallest solids from the drilling mud. The centrifuges are also equipped with several features that make them well-suited for use in offshore environments, including a corrosion-resistant design and a self-priming system.

The delivery of the centrifuges marks a significant milestone for GN Solids Control, as they are the first API-certified manufacturer in China. GN is confident that the centrifuge will meet the demanding requirements of offshore drilling operations and help ensure drilling projects’ safety and reliability.

GN’s products are used in various applications, including drilling mud recycling, wastewater treatment, and replacement API shaker screens. GN Solids Control is committed to providing its customers with innovative and reliable products that meet the highest quality standards.

Demand for Solids Control Equipment in Dubai on the Rise, and GN is an Important Supplier

The Dubai solids control equipment market saw increased trading activity, as oil and gas companies in the region continued to invest in new drilling projects.

According to industry sources, trading volumes for solids control equipment in Dubai increased in June. The most popular types of solids control equipment traded in Dubai during the month were shale shakers, desander, desilter, and centrifuges.

The increased trading activity in the Dubai solids control equipment market is being driven by a number of factors, including the rising demand for oil and gas in the region.

The UAE is a major oil and gas producer, and the government is planning to invest heavily in the development of new oil and gas fields in the coming years.

In addition, the Dubai solids control equipment market is also benefiting from the growth of the shale gas industry in the region. Shale gas is a type of natural gas that is trapped in shale formations. Shale gas extraction requires the use of solids control equipment to remove solids from the drilling fluids.

The increased trading activity in the Dubai solids control equipment market is expected to continue in the coming months. The UAE is a major hub for the oil and gas industry in the Middle East, and the demand for solids control equipment is expected to remain strong in the region.

The equipment market for GN solids control in Dubai is growing rapidly. GN Solids Control is a leading provider of solids control and waste management equipment for the oil and gas industry. GN has a strong reputation for quality and innovation, and its products are used by some of the largest oil and gas companies in the world.

GN shaker screens: A Standard for Safety and Efficiency

Shale shaker screens are an essential part of any drilling rig. They are used to remove solids from drilling mud, which helps to prevent formation damage and improve the efficiency of the drilling process.

In the past, there was no standard for shale shaker screens. This led to a variety of screen sizes and specifications, which made it challenging to ensure that the right screen was being used for the job. This could lead to problems such as clogged screens, lost production, and even safety hazards.

API 13C is a standard for shale shaker screens to address this issue. It specifies the physical properties of shale shaker screens, such as the cut point, conductance, and non-blanked area. This ensures that all API 13C-certified screens meet the same high standards, regardless of the manufacturer.

API 13C shale shaker screens offer a number of benefits, including:

Improved safety: API 13C certified screens are designed to prevent solids from clogging the screen, which can lead to a number of safety hazards, such as fires and explosions.

Increased efficiency: API 13C-certified screens are designed to allow drilling mud to flow freely, which helps to improve the efficiency of the drilling process.

Reduced costs: API 13C-certified screens are designed to last longer than non-compliant screens, which can help to reduce the overall cost of drilling operations.

When choosing an API 13C shale shaker screen, there are a few factors you need to consider:

The type of drilling mud you are using: Different types of drilling mud require different screen sizes. For example, water-based muds typically require a finer screen than oil-based muds.

The size of the solids you are trying to remove: The cut point of the screen determines the size of the solids that will be removed. For example, a screen with a cut point of 100 mesh will remove all solids larger than 100 mesh.

The flow rate of the drilling mud: The conductance of the screen determines how much drilling mud can flow through the screen per unit of time. For example, a screen with a conductance of 10 kD/mm will allow more drilling mud to flow through the screen than a screen with a conductance of 5 kD/mm.

Once you have considered these factors, you can choose the API 13C shale shaker screen that suits your needs.

GN Solids Control is the first API-certified shale shaker screen manufacturer in China. The feature of the GN shaker screen are:

Automatic Robot Welding of the steel frame to have better quality and consistency.
High-quality fiberglass to improve plastic quality and screen
temperature resistant to 140 °C degree.
The composite frame screen is repairable to save cost.
Compared to the metal frame, the composite frame’s useable area is 10% to 20 % larger.
Since the composite frame is covered by plastic, it is rust-resistant for long time storage up to over 5 years.

What’s the Difference between a 2-phase and a 3-phase centrifuge?

At the CIPPE exhibition, GN had shown two centrifuges: A big bowl centrifuge and a 3 phase centrifuge. What’s the difference?

Centrifuges are machines that use centrifugal force to separate solids from liquids. The centrifugal force is created by spinning the centrifuge at high speed. The faster the centrifuge spins, the stronger the centrifugal force.

The solids in a slurry are denser than the liquids, so they are pulled to the outside of the centrifuge bowl by the centrifugal force. The liquids, on the other hand, are less dense than the solids, so they are pulled to the center of the centrifuge bowl.

The solids and liquids are then separated by a series of baffles in the centrifuge bowl. The solids are discharged from the centrifuge at the bottom of the bowl, and the liquids are discharged from the centrifuge at the top of the bowl.

The rotating speed of the centrifuge is a major factor in how effectively it can separate solids from liquids. The faster the centrifuge spins, the stronger the centrifugal force, and the more effective the centrifuge will be at separating solids from liquids.

However, it is important to note that rotating speed is not the only factor that affects the performance of a centrifuge. The density of the solids, the viscosity of the liquid, and the design of the centrifuge also play a role.

Centrifuges are essential tools for the mud system in solids control and waste management.

If you are looking for a way to remove solids from liquids, a centrifuge may be the right solution for you. For more details, please also contact me at samuel@gnsolidscontrol.co
